Seldén Series S winches
Seldén
Seldén expand their range of winches Next step for the world leading Swedish mast manufacturer is the launch of, in comparison to the R-winches, quite ordinary two-speed self-tailing winches. The premiere for the S-winches will take place at METS, Amsterdam and as always Seldén have developed some interesting design features that simplify the sail handling.

Batten receptacles and sail sliders
Over the last 10 years Selden has expanded its range of products related to boat builders, riggers and chandleries to become a more complete supplier of sail handling equipment. Now it is time to focus on sailmakers, by tradition one of the core segment to Seldén.
Sail hardware is not a new product range to Seldén. The MDS (Multi Directional Support) concept, a purpose made traveler for Seldén’s C-sections was introduced 2003 and received very positive attention for what it contributes – easy hoist and do

E40i – Electric winch that is completely above deck.
The coach roof is normally the ideal place for a winch that operates halyards, reef lines, outhaul and control lines. The E40i winch is built up around an electric motor which is totally integrated in the drum. Only three thin cables are protruding to lead through the coach roof or the deck, no large cutouts and no external motor or gearbox. This makes for uncompromised headroom down below which is normally not the case with electric winches.

SMF - Synchronized Main Furling
Push button handling of a furling mainsail
Push button handling of a furling mainsail
A retrofitable motor in the furling mast is synchronized with the E40i winch. The mast motor feeds out the sail while the electric winch is tensioning the outhaul. All is controlled by the push of a single button. The speed of the E40i winch is automatically adjusted to the load in the outhaul. If the load exceeds a certain level, the winch will reduce its power to avoid overload. To furl the sail back in to the mast the outhaul is released while pushing a button.

Electric Code 0 furlingsystem
CXe45 is a 2-speed furler and it takes only 10 seconds to furl the sail which reduces fluttering and extends the life of the sail.
The drive unit can either be integrated into a bow or bowsprit with a through-deck (TD) installation or used as an on-deck unit attached to a pad-eye (OD).

Seldén GX
Furling systems for asymmetric spinnakers
Furling systems for asymmetric spinnakers
The Seldén GX consists of a linedriver and a halyard swivel connected by an anti-torsion line. When turning the drum the anti-torsion line makes the top of the sail furl first, while the tack is independent on a swivel. Furling and unfurling can be done from the cock pit and at the end of the day the furled sail is a neat, tight roll which is simple to bag and stows easily.

Low friction fullbatten cars
MDS (Multi-Directional Support).
A full batten always creates a side load on the cars, particulary when you release the halyard for taking a reef. As a mastmanufacturer, Seldén has developed a new serie of mast sections and full batten cars who are handling these loads in a unique way.
The luff groove of the mast section has two guiding flanges. The cars have side load absorbing wheels rolling on the guiding flanges preventing friction from side loads. Longitudinal loads are handled by six main wheels. I

Seldén mast jack system
Mast jack for instant race mood
Mast jack for instant race mood
A mast jack ensures that you always retain the right rig tension for racing. It also lets you relieve the load on the rig and boat when you are in port. The mast jack system consists of a hydraulic cylinder located inside the mast. The cylinder piston moves down vertically through the heel of the mast to a steel plate in the boat’s
T-base, thereby lifting the mast and increasing the tension.
In order to make it easier to jack up the mast, the system includes a two-stage pump that switches to its lower ge

A complete range of deck hardware
A complete range of deck hardware
World-leading mast manufacturer Seldén Mast will launch its own complete range of deck hardware at the coming winter’s boat shows.
“A lot of our boat-building customers said that they would prefer to deal with fewer suppliers. So we responded by expanding our product range,” says Mats-Uno Fredrikson, Marketing Manager at Seldén.
The new Seldén product group will consist of ball bearing and plain bearing blocks, wire blocks, high-load blocks, cam cleats and valley cleats, as well as swivels with cam cleats

Our cross beams for catamarans are designed to be more than just a structural connection between the hulls. Integrated cable conduits, fittings for navigational lights and a clever attachment for the trampoline are good examples of details appreciated by the boat builders.

Save the roach of the mainsail
Freeing the roach with Seldén’s backstay flicker
In recent years, sailmakers have increasingly been designing mainsails with a bigger roach than the mast is designed for. Seldén has a solution to this problem for fractionally rigged boats.
An over-dimensioned roach can easily get caught in the backstay when tacking or gybing. The reason is simple; the headbox is too short and the backstay attachments are too close to the mast. Many people ask why this problem cannot be solved by a switching to a longer he

Spreaders for optimized trim
Seldén Masts are proud to receive SAIL's Pittman Innovation Award for the Fully Adjustable Dinghy Spreader System.
Champions demand quick and precise spreader angle control to tune the prebend of the mast to the prevailing conditions.
Selden’s adjustable spreaders achieve just that: re-defining world standards for rig adjustment, strength, reliability, and - naturally - style.
Top dinghy sailors from a broad range of classes and countries told us what they required and the Seldén technical team met this
