Milan, 2 May 2023. The Milanese maritime engineering group has recorded the first four month of the year that in terms of commitment and diversification of assignments exceeds the already optimistic forecast of just a few months ago and bodes well for the near future. As of today, it already completed many impressive installations in Italy and abroad, interesting also for the versatility of their uses.
MOORINGS FOR YACHT CLUBS
Gulf of La Spezia
The Gulf of La Spezia is considered to be a yachtsman's paradise, with Le Grazie bay the crown jewel of the Gulf. Over the years, the buoys present in the bay have been gradually replaced with a series of pontoons that improved the appearance and functionality of the spot. Sports associations and the local administration promoted this important renovation, and Ingemar can claim the satisfaction of having given continuity to its many installations. The latest intervention, which concludes the replacement of the buoy fields with approximately 1440m of floating pontoons, involved the installation of two long mooring piers composed of pontoons with steel structures, concrete floats and decking in tropical timber. The pier will accommodate the boats of the last four local nautical clubs, and their members will finally be able to access their boats .... by walking on the water.
In another development and following the successful installation of the gigantic breakwaters in the Gulf of La Spezia (up to 20x10x2.4m and 185t displacement), Ingemar completed a new 4m wide floating barrier to protect the jetties of the La Spezia Sailing Club at the Molo Italia. The project was “sponsored” by the Port Authority and at the client's request the new infrastructure, anchored to the seabed with chains and concrete blocks, was supplied with a special concrete walking surface in a customised colour.
As a result of many interventions carried out over the years, this enchanting stretch of the sea became a true open-air showroom of Ingemar's best floating products - from pontoons for recreational boating to large jetties equipped for work vehicles, up to the imposing external breakwater modules - and the developments in maritime, tourist and commercial activities bear witness to this.
RENOVATION OF MARINAS
Total renovation of the Palau Harbour moorings and refitting of minor works
Work has begun on the complete replacement of the 'glorious' Ingemar pontoons installed in Palau in 1987, with an extraordinary maintenance of their anchoring systems, access gangways and mooring fingers. The municipal marina comprises two basins protected to the North by a fixed pier: five floating piers with fingers are installed in the West basin and another two, also equipped with fingers, are located in the East basin. Work on the first lot will be concentrated in the Eastern area, with complete replacement of the existing structures and the restoration of the tropical timber decking of the lateral fingers, and will be completed by 31st May to allow the mooring of boats and the normal flow of tourist activities. The works will be suspended for the tourist season and resumed in October, when they will see the complete replacement of the 5 remaining pontoons and the maintenance of the relative fingers and access gangways. The value of the entire contract is approximately 1.5 million Euro and duration of the work should not exceed a total of 152 days.
EXPANSION OF BERTHS IN MARINAS
New floating dock in Jesolo (VE)
The tourist harbour of Jesolo comprises an important and continually evolving real estate development on a complex of basins just to the North of the Venetian lagoon.
Ingemar endorsed several interventions in the central basin and in the Southern area of the harbour and installed several piers perpendicular to the quay and one floating pier parallel to the quay. This year, a new floating structure is being completed parallel to the shoreline that previously was being used for boat mooring. A long pontoon with concrete floats, steel frames and a 3-metre-wide decking in tropical timber, anchored with steel piles and sliding devices, will ensure a comfortable 'English-style' mooring for large yachts up to 30 metres long.
FLOATING STRUCTURES FOR THE TRANSPORT SECTOR
Passenger platforms at the new terminal in Fusina (Ve)
The relocation of the cruise ship terminal from the Tronchetto site to the more distant terminal in Fusina freed Venice from the cumbersome and dangerous passage of these sea giants right through the heart of the city, but it also called for a reorganisation of the reception and sorting facilities for cruise passengers bound for La Serenissima. After disembarking at Fusina they will be transported to the old terminal with large motorboats and then continue to their final destination by public transport or water taxi. Precisely to enable the disembarkations, Ingemar installed two large floating platforms at Tronchetto, in record time. In addition, a section of floating pier previously used in the old terminal was moved to Fusina and was refitted for the new purposes. A fine example of flexibility and reuse of prefabricated floating structures for the benefit of the community and lagoon mobility.
PONTOONS SERVING INDUSTRIAL PLANTS / INSTALLATIONS
Special landings for security Dammam in Saudi Arabia
Many of the Saudi Arabian Electricity Company's power plants are located close to the sea and require a protected harbour area to house service and security vessels.
Ingemar was commissioned to build a series of mooring structures specifically designed for the needs of working vessels in two Persian Gulf coastal locations near Dammam. The award of this contract to Ingemar was due in part to the success of numerous installations carried out in the past for the Saudi Arabian Coast Guard. All the components, from the pontoons to the fingers, to the equipment and anchoring systems, were designed and manufactured in Italy at the Casale sul Sile plant, shipped in containers by sea and installed by the local Ingemar partner.
RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT
Mooring and bathing platforms in Sivota, Greece
Ingemar is installing in Sivota a floating polyethylene platform of almost 100sqm for sunbathing and bathing activities, in addition to a series of jetties for mooring boats. This important project for the tourist development of the north-western Greek coastline also includes the commissioning of the Casale Group to renovate the decking of the other existing structures with new tropical timber, to improve the functionality and overall aesthetics of the renovated settlement.
Floating pontoons and walkways for a Design Week event in Milan
A series of floating pontoons and Ingemar walkways formed the infrastructure and support on the water of “The Sea Deck” installation, designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi for an Azimut Yachts event during the last Milan Design Week 2023. "The Sea Deck" has been conceived as a floating promenade made with sustainable and recyclable materials, such as the flooring created with 2 million recycled and ground cork bottle stoppers, to be subsequently transformed again into insulating material for architecture.
SPORT FACILITIES
CdV launching and hauling slips in Venice
An interesting application of floating structures is represented by slipways for launching of small sailing boats and motorboats. Another important installation was added to the already impressive reference list: for the Compagnia della Vela di Venezia (Venice Sailing Company), a historic and renowned nautical club of the Serenissima, based on the island of San Giorgio in the San Marco basin. The slides consist of a suitably protected steel structure, hinged to the quay and supported by floating units on the sea side, with timber decking surface on the emerged part and a fibreglass grating on the immersed part.
Ease of installation, low costs and minimal environmental impact of these prefabricated solutions led to their rapid development with excellent feedback from the markets.
INGEMAR PROJECTS AT DISTANT SITES
United Arab Emirates Coast Guard pontoons in Abu Dhabi
The design activity that for some years now has seen Ingemar work alongside the licensee companies of its own brand in some distant countries (Arab Emirates, Oman and India) is strongly accelerating, following the new challenge of an executive design of two special landings for boats of the Abu Dhabi Coastal Protection Military Corps. The floating structures will be all-concrete type with a polystyrene foam core, and will include pontoons of different sizes and capacity, as well as mooring fingers. The construction will be carried out on site by local partners with technical assistance from Ingemar. From Italy, Ingemar will provide its partners with the executive drawings and supply of strategic parts for the structures.
Lorenzo Isalberti, Chairman and founder of the Group, expressed his satisfaction with the increasing international recognition the Group is achieving, partly due to the exclusive licensing agreements signed in recent years and to development of original systems which are the expression of the best qualities in Italian ingenuity and creativity.
For more than 40 years Ingemar has been designing and building pontoons and floating breakwaters in Italy and abroad. Today it is one very few companies in the sector to have its own independent production facilities, enabling it to carry out Research and Development in anticipation of market demands. ISO 9001 certification for design, construction and installation gives testimony to the company's constant dedication and commitment to quality. In addition, the company holds SOA certification in the marine works class VIII which allows participation in public tenders without the maximum value limit. The company's Headquarters are in Milan, where it was founded in 1979, while all the operational activities are concentrated in Casale sul Sile (Treviso). The Ingemar Group consists of the Ingemar parent company, responsible for design and maritime engineering, and its sister company Inge Real Estate, which manages the real estate initiatives of the Group.
