Environmentally Responsible Solutions Engineered
FMD was built upon a foundation of operational experience within Superyachts, Naval and Cruise Ships. We utilize creative approaches for solving enduring problems encountered when treating waste streams on board vessels. We do this in an environmentally responsible way while conforming to the requirements of MARPOL Annex IV & V. Our systems use no chemicals, have low power requirements, low maintenance needs, are environmentally friendly and easy to operate, with high level of remote assistance.

Food Waste Collection (FWC)
Galley grey water & food waste processing
Galley grey water & food waste processing
Food waste from macerator stations is transported by vacuum and galley grey water by gravity or vacuum to a TSP 150µ de-watering station or the integrated food waste holding tank. The de-watered solids can be further processed in a Solid Waste Processor (SWP).
Grease Separation (GS)
Galley grey water and de-watered food waste liquor
Galley grey water and de-watered food waste liquor
Our grease separators are simplistic, utilizing gravity to separate the fat, oil, grease (FOG) which operate trouble-free due to solids removal before the inlet and correct sizing for each application, under sizing of a grease separators is the most common cause of a nonperforming grease separator.
Vacuum Collection & Transfer (VCT)
Black- & grey water vacuum collection & transfer
Black- & grey water vacuum collection & transfer
Vacuum is generated within the tank using an energy-efficient method and used for the transport of black and grey water from connected components to the tank. Wastewater accumulates in the vacuum tank to a working level before being transferred by pump to the TSP dewatering station for solids separation. The key advantage of a non-maceration collection & transfer system is reduced soluble organics, TSS and phosphorus levels in the wastewater this in turn reduces the load on the wastewater treatment plant.
De-Watering Station (DWS)
Food waste & wastewater solids separation
Food waste & wastewater solids separation
The Tempered Screw Press (TSP) is designed for compact, low-noise, reliable and efficient separation of wastewater with a high solids content. Solids are discharged through a sealed chute into an endless bag for ease of handling and prevention of odours.
Wastewater Treatment (SBR)
IMO-certified biological sewage treatment plant
IMO-certified biological sewage treatment plant
The FMD Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) is designed to treat the wastewater sources of Grey, Black, Galley and Laundry as a single combined influent. After mechanical pre-screening for solids, the process is entirely biological with no mechanical or chemical enhancements. Due to the patented technology, there are NO Membranes, NO Chemicals used, NO Foaming, Low Sludge Generation, Low Power, Maintenance & Operator Requirements, extremely resilient to toxic shock, variable load, fat/oil/grease, feast or famine
Tank Aeration (TA)
Wastewater Tank Aeration
Wastewater Tank Aeration
Wastewater Tank Aeration (TA) is necessary to maintain dissolved O2 levels which minimizes smells and odours. Without aeration an anaerobic conditions form resulting in bad smells and toxic gas emission.
Solid Waste Processor (SWP)
Handling and processing of solid waste
Handling and processing of solid waste
The SWP is designed to process most types of solid waste, finely shredding while simultaneously using the heat generated by friction to boil off any moisture under vacuum and finally sterilize prior to discharge. The result is a reduction of weight and volume without any harmful emissions. The inert and non-hazardous discharge can be safely stored for up to 6 months. The process is dust and odour-free and is completely automated during the single processing cycle, requiring only a single operator.
Glass Crusher (GC)
Rapidly reduces bottles and glass to sand
Rapidly reduces bottles and glass to sand
The Glass Crusher (GC) is a compact unit with a feed capacity of 300kg/h and a volume reduction of up to 90%. In one 20L bin can fit 160 small beer bottles or 60 wine bottles. A wine bottle is typically crushed in 3-5 seconds leaving only a safe-to-handle sand.
