An update from Johan to you.
In March this year I wrote to friends of Baltic sharing our sadness at the war in Ukraine and the direct impact it was having on our work colleagues and the uncertainty that lay ahead. Baltic has several production lines in Ukraine, we have always maintained regular communication with them and continue to send aid along other supplies they need. Sadly, the situation remains unchanged and today more than ever we must stand together. We are here to help Ukrainians and we will be there to help them rebuild when the time comes.
It’s times like these that resilience shines through and throughout all this turmoil and uncertainty we continue to strive forward to build a better safer future for those who enjoy the water. Baltic continues to design and manufacture of lifejackets, buoyancy aids, flotation clothing and safety lines in Europe with uncompromising focus when it comes to the safety of the user. We know the best lifejacket is the one you wear, and our team work tirelessly to design products that are comfortable, functional, and stylish to make certain they are worn.
Thank you to all those who work to promote water safety and to companies who are adapting to the changing times in our world. I am very excited about our new Environmental Initiative range, and I hope to be able to show you the products during METS.

Baltic Lifejackets has acted and has put our environment first as we launch the Baltic Environmental Initiative. Within this initiative customers can rediscover classic products in the Baltic range that are designed for the future.
Here are some key facts about the Baltic Environmental Initiative, the first lifejacket and buoyancy aid range that are manufactured using recycled materials.
- 100% recycled materials where standards allow.
- The buoyant material comprises of scraps of flotation material already used in the manufacturing process whilst the inner/outer fabrics are made from recycled PET bottles.
- 10 x 600ml PET bottles make one lifejacket/buoyancy aid.
- 24% less CO2 emissions are generated in the production process compared to our traditional range.
- The products are kept in cold storage, or a warehouse powered by solar panels.
Linnéa Gustén, Head of Sustainability at Baltic Lifejackets talks about their plans, “The models launching at METS are just the start. We will be extending the Baltic E.I. range with a goal to have 50% of all Baltic products made from fully or partially recycled materials by 2025. These lifejackets and buoyancy aids are approved to EN/ISO 12402-4/5, and the materials are the same high quality that customer have come to expect from the stand range from Baltic. There is no compromise when it comes to safety at sea.”
New Products and New Colours
At METS this year Baltic launches the first three products in this range: the Radial E.I., the Mist E.I., and the Split Front E.I.
In addition to the new environmental focused products, Baltic has launched the Poseidon an inflatable lifejacket for ultimate comfort, the Mako inflatable lifejacket for sports fishing, the Splash buoyancy aid for our four-legged friends and the Legend 305 inflatable lifejacket is back by popular demand. There are also a number of new colour releases to see.

Baltic Lifejackets will be at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) and like most exhibitors they are in a new location (stand 05.701) and will be bringing new products to the market that have been developed and introduced over the last 18 months.

“The marine industry is vast,” comments Johan Lövqvist CEO of Baltic Safety Products AB. “We have spent our time in ‘lockdown’ reviewing the whole Baltic offering and the new products across the whole range of watersports show the diversity out there and the requirements of our customers. So far they have been well received and we are looking forward to introducing them at METS.”

The Slim Pro and Slim Reflective

These two buoyancy aids have a very slim fit thanks to the careful distribution of the compact buoyancy material. The back plate is ergonomically designed, and the adjustable sides are made of soft neoprene. The entire vest is lined with mesh for extra comfort and breathability. The Slim Reflective is for those looking for the highest possible visibility and comes with a retro-reflective cover.

Multisport - GT Retro

This classic buoyancy aid has been updated with a new pocket and is now available in new retro colours.

The GT Retro comes with neoprene on shoulders and a waistband provides a soft and flexible life jacket that is suitable for all types of boating activities.

This is a comfortable all-round buoyancy aid with vertical splits in the buoyancy material for great movement and is also available in small size increments for optimum fit.

Multisport - X4

Meet the X4, developed together with experts in kayaking. It is a flexible model due to its evenly distributed buoyancy and soft material. The adjustable shoulders and sides make this vest a good fit and barely noticeable during use. Available in Black.

Those paddling for exploration, adventure, work or simply to have some time out need freedom of movement. It’s important that the Personal Flotation Device (PFD) is non-restrictive, light to wear, comfortable and that it doesn’t sit heavy on the wearer’s shoulders. These are all elements paddle sport enthusiasts can expect as standard from a Baltic buoyancy aid. In addition to these comfort features, visibility is also key given the close proximity to the water. All Baltic PFDs have EN/ISO certification and are rated to 50N as a minimum.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding - SUP Elite, SUP Pro and SUP Rental

Baltic introduces a series of life jackets designed for Stand Up Paddleboarding, developed in collaboration with instructors and professional designers with extensive experience in the sport. The vests are designed to provide maximum mobility for the arms and make it easy to get up on the board from the water.

The SUP Elite/PRO/Rental are a range in themselves offering good mobility and comfort both on the board and in the water. Available in a range of colours and reflective patches to increase visibility. These buoyancy aids start from £70 depending on the model, and are available in Small 30+ kg, Medium 50+ kg and Large 70+ kg.

In addition to the above-mentioned new products coming to the market in 2022, METS offers the perfect platform to introduce the Baltic products launched earlier this year; the Athena ladies lifejacket, the Extreme dinghy sailing buoyancy aid, the new child’s Bamse lifejacket, the new flotation clothing such as the Hamble and also the new technical apparel including top, mid and base layers, which have been available throughout 2021.
