BZ Optics the Burleigh Heads specialist sunglass development company will be exhibiting at the METS Marine Industry Trade Fair in Amsterdam (as part of the Gold Coast City Council trade mission) on the 15th to the 17th of November. This is where the world marine industry does business.

BZ will release their PHO (super lightweight sports frame) fitted with polarised or polarised with small bi focals lenses in their base.

BZ Optics exhibited in Lyon France last week at Paddle Expo the world main paddle sport Expo. It featured canoes, kayaks, SUPS, paddle boards and foil boards. Contacts were made with distributors and retailers from ten countries with a distribution already signed with Israel

BZ developed a “world first” Photochromic lens with bi focal readers (for cyclist who required magnification for reading a Garmin, menu, mobile phone or finding a puncture in a tyre) f in 2017. The lens is clear pre dawn and as UV and sun intensifies it darkens. This lens is also perfect for the marine industry for those who are long sighted. Since then BZ have expanded their range to suit several markets.

Their Polarised lens with and without readers is their latest development it allows for maximum eye protection when around extreme conditions like on water. The polarised cuts down water surface glare, polarisation also allows for the wearer to view through the surface of the water at obstructions and are perfect for sighting fish. The reader allows long sited people to tie fine fishing tackle, read charts, digital screens or their mobile without having to change glasses all of the time.

BZ are currently exporting into German cycle and Optical industries, the UK cycle, triathlon and running industries as well as into countries like the US, NZ and Croatia.

Due to the increasing demand for premium berthing facilities to cater to 50ft to 80ft recreational vessels, Mulpha Sanctuary Cove Marina will expand their berthing capacity within their well-protected northern marina basin area.
Once approved, the Sanctuary Cove Marina will add an additional 66 berths, increasing the capacity from their existing 230 berths, which cater to vessels up to 35m (100ft).
Fabricated in a floating concrete construction, the new berths will accommodate vessels from 18m (60ft) to 50m (165ft) and provide yacht owners the unique benefit of covered roof protection, the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
The architecturally-designed premium-quality, permanent roofing is opaque and taut, providing privacy, UV and weather protection and an aesthetic appeal unique among recreational marinas.
In addition, the main piers have been specially designed and widened to enable access for marina golf buggies for guest transport and yacht provisioning.
According to Marina Manger, Steve Sammes “The new facility will be a ‘signature’ project, never seen before in Australian Marinas”.
“The new marina will be a tribute to the long-term financial commitment from Mulpha in recognising the importance of building premium quality facilities, which will further complement the Sanctuary Cove lifestyle and everything it has to offer its residents, customers and visitors alike.”
Long-term berth holders can join the Platinum Membership program, giving them access to a set number of rounds of golf at The Palms Golf Course and membership at the Sanctuary Cove Country Club, as well as the Marine Village on your doorstep for dining, provisioning, boutique shopping and entertainment.
A six-star level of customer service offering will further enhance the berth holders boating experience.
As Mr Sammes explains “‘Admiral Club Membership’ has a host of benefits and privileges and will also involve the Intercontinental Hotel Sanctuary Cove team who are able to offer their concierge services, including valet vehicle parking, golf buggy transfer from the hotel reception onto the marina piers, on board room service for on board meals and even laundry pick up and return.




Bolstering Mulpha’s decision is the multi-million-dollar private investment in the refit and maintenance facilities in the adjacent Coomera Marine Precinct and the Queensland government’s commitment to long-term dredging of the Coomera River.

The northern section of the existing marina will be demolished and reconfigured, with some boat brokerages and the prawn trawler relocated.
For the boating industry, the new development means “a bigger and better boat show in 2020”, according to Mr Shaw. The event, in its 32nd year, attracts up to 40,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors
Boat brands who call Sanctuary Cove home include Princess, Horizon, Maritimo, Integrity, Whitehaven, Hurricane, Fairline, Alaska and Hampton Yachts.
Slated for opening in early 2020, the additional marina will be attractive to boat owners looking for an idyllically located permanent mooring as well as visiting vessels seeking temporary berthing during their east-coast voyages.
