New OYS rigging, cylinder and thruster design at METS 2018
OYS is once again exhibiting at METS 2018, where we are returning to our position in the Superyacht Pavilion on stand 11.204.
Since we launched our new branding at the show 12 months ago, along with our range of sleek hydraulic cylinders, we have been busy in all divisions of the company. Currently, we have the largest number of thrusters in build. On the rigging side, a number of winter refit projects are well underway. 2018 saw one of our busiest months, when three significant projects left the factory for France, Spain and the USA and the early part of 2019 is already looking busy. Our new range of hydraulic cylinders has opened some new avenues of business for us. To date, we have predominantly been a supplier to the superyacht industry, with a large majority of superyachts installing our vangs on board. Our new range has been targeting the smaller end of the market, reaching large yachts.

Rod Rigging Rod Rigging - Nitronic 50
Nitronic 50® has been used predominately as a reliable material for standing rigging and marine hardware supplying superyachts, raceboats, multihulls and small cruising yachts.
Nitronic 50® is an austenitic, nitrogen strengthened steel providing a combination of high corrosion resistance and structural properties approximately twice the yield strength of comparable commercial metals.
If longevity & aesthetics are high on the design criteria then the Ocean Yacht Systems bespoke rod rigging should be used.
D Series Sail Drive Legs
OYS sail drive legs have been developed in order to meet the need for higher power sail drives for traditional diesel engines as well as offering a sail drive solution compatible with electric and hydraulic motors. The legs are designed to be simple to install, easy to maintain and provide a compact solution. Designed to work with fixed or folding props the OYS primary drive leg is suitable for sail and powerboat applications.
S Series Swing Thrusters
S Series swing thrusters benefit from the same in-hub technology as our T Series thrusters, whilst allowing the thruster to fully retract leaving a fair hull with minimal drag. This compact design uses a lead screw lift assembly with a reduction gear box to ensure that the thruster hub when retracted is held firmly in place. Once retracted a small hydraulic locking pin engages ensuring zero movement during passage.
For added security all S Series thrusters can be manually lifted in case of power failure.
T Series Tunnel Thrusters
T Series tunnel thrusters are compact and easy to fit units that can be supplied complete with steel, aluminium or composite tunnels, pre drilled ready for installation. The thruster hub units are protected by twin shaft seals on each propeller shaft, and a single shaft seal on the vertical input shaft. The tunnel thruster uses high torque spiral bevel gears and twin contra-rotating propellers to develop a high thrust to tunnel diameter ratio.
V Series Vertical Thrusters

VR Series Hydraulic Vertical Rotating Thrusters
OYS are pioneers of retracting rotating thrusters in the superyacht and workboat market. The VR Series thruster deploys vertically and can rotate 360 degrees whilst thrusting. Having steerable thrust provides ultimate manoeuvrability for berthing or in conjunction with any dynamic positioning system.
The VR Series thruster uses a vertical lead screw and guide rods to raise and lower the unit with worm and wheel rotation design providing solid control.
