Rod Rigging
Rod Rigging - Nitronic 50
Rod Rigging - Nitronic 50
Nitronic 50® has been used predominately as a reliable material for standing rigging and marine hardware supplying superyachts, raceboats, multihulls and small cruising yachts.
Nitronic 50® is an austenitic, nitrogen strengthened steel providing a combination of high corrosion resistance and structural properties approximately twice the yield strength of comparable commercial metals.
If longevity & aesthetics are high on the design criteria then the Ocean Yacht Systems bespoke rod rigging should be used.

Kevlar Rigging
Rigging with Kevlar
Rigging with Kevlar
Kevlar® is the most frequently used material for composite rigging due to its reliable performance characteristics and its acceptable cost trade off, against traditional materials, in the same applications. At one fifth of the weight of steel, its low weight is a major attraction in rigging applications. In areas where stiffness, or strength to weight ratio is important, it provides an excellent material, supplied with a durable black UV resistant jacket. Custom sizes are available upon request.
OYS Hydraulics
OYS Hydraulics
OYS Hydraulics
OYS offers a complete range of aluminium and stainless-steel cylinders. Engineered with intelligence and performance in mind, these cylinders will integrate with most hydraulic mast, sail and rigging combinations. Designed and built in the UK these units are reliable, elegant and proven to suit both cruising and racing requirements. In addition to cylinders OYS can provide associated pumps, power-packs and control systems that make a complete onboard hydraulic solution.
VR Series
Vertical Retracting and Rotating Thrusters
Vertical Retracting and Rotating Thrusters
Vertical 360° Rotating Thrusters have the same in hub technology as the Fixed Tunnel Thruster whilst allowing the thruster to fully retract leaving a fair hull. It has a small footprint so is suited to installation in aft or fore lockers where space is at a premium.
Ideal for deep V profile vessels allowing for a longer deployment stroke to clear the hull. They can be fitted further forward or aft than conventional units increasing the hull turning moment and therefore requiring less power input.

V Series
Vertical Thrusters
Vertical Thrusters
V Series Vertical Retracting Thrusters have the same in hub technology as the Fixed Tunnel Thruster whilst allowing the thruster to fully retract leaving a fair hull. This compact design uses a lead screw lift assembly with a reduction gear box to ensure the thruster hub when retracted is held firmly in place. Suitable for V Profile hulls, and they can be fitted further forward or aft than conventional thrusters increasing the hull turning moment and so requiring less power input.
T Series
Tunnel Thrusters
Tunnel Thrusters
T Series Tunnel Thrusters are compact easy to fit units that can be supplied complete with steel, aluminium or composite tunnels pre-drilled for installation. The units are protected by twin shaft seals on each propeller shaft, and a single shaft seal on the vertical input shaft. They use high torque spiral bevel gears and twin contra-rotating propellers to develop high thrust to tunnel diameter ratio. They are supplied with a suitable interface for any hydraulic or electric motor.
S Series
Swing Thrusters
Swing Thrusters
S Series Swing Thrusters benefit from the same in-hub technology as our T Series Thrusters whilst allowing the unit to fully retract leaving a fair hull with minimal drag. These units are usually used when they are positioned within the accommodation area of a vessel. The low profile and compact design allow them to be easily fitted below floor bearers or in low level lockers. There’s a lead screw lift assembly with a reduction gear box to ensure the unit is held firmly in place when retracted.
D Series
Sail Drive Legs
Sail Drive Legs
D Series Fixed Drive Legs are a range of compact, lightweight, and versatile units. Developed using the same technology used in the OYS range of steerable and retracting thruster and drive designs, the legs can be connected via a coupling to a traditional diesel engine, hydraulics or electric motor. They are simple to install, easy to maintain and provide a compact solution. They work with large fixed or folding props the OYS Dive Leg is suitable for sail and powerboat applications.
